This page describes past, present, and future book projects where I am or was the principal author or editor. I have, of course, contributed photographs to many other books, including some that featured a substantial number of my photos. I have also served as principal author of several manuals for a computer-based logistics and supply-chain management system.
I edited this book, published 1983 by the Special Libraries Association. Though some sections are now outdated, this reference work on North American picture collections of all types is still widely used by picture researchers for major publishing houses. Reprints were still available from the Special Libraries Association, Washington, D.C., as of early 1997. The book is also widely available in major university and large public libraries.
No revisions have been published since the fourth edition. Unfortunately, some of the parties involved in this project could not reach agreement on a new edition.
Published by Amphoto in 1986, this how-to book provides an introduction to picture librarianship for photographers. The book presents some of the options for organizing, storing, and retrieving photographs. The book stayed in print for more than five years, but is now out of print. It is, however, also widely available from major libraries. If your library does not have a copy, you can obtain a copy through inter-library loan (ILL). The section on computers has become a little dated. Other general principles still apply.
