Stock coverage includes all three major regions of the state:

PIEDMONT: Lake Gaston; Jordan Lake; Duke University (Durham), including Duke Gardens, Medical Center, libraries, etc.; Bennett Place (state historic site near Durham), site of major Civil War surrender; Duke Homestead (state historic site, Durham); natural habitats at state zoo, Asheboro; modern architecture at Research Triangle Park, which houses many high-tech (computer, pharmaceutical, etc.) firms; Ft. Bragg military base, including paratrooper jumps, firepower demonstrations, Special Forces training, etc.; Old Salem (restored Moravian village in downtown Winston-Salem); tobacco fields; rail transportation (CSX, Norfolk Southern, Amtrak, shortlines, etc.), including major rail terminals at Spencer and Hamlet; some small towns.
MOUNTAINS: The Blue Ridge Mountains and Blue Ridge Parkway from the Virginia border in the north to the Tennessee line in the southwestern corner of the state; Great Smoky Mountains National Park; Cherokee Indian Reservation; mountain foliage from first leaves in spring through late fall; mountain streams and rivers, including Toe River; Biltmore Estate, Asheville; railroads in the mountains including CSX (former Clinchfield Railroad) and Norfolk Southern. Many scenics including mountain trails in early morning fog, sunsets, and varied plants and wildlife.
NEIGHBORING STATES: Stock coverage also includes some subjects from neighboring states (Virginia, Tennessee, South Carolina; some railroad and coal mining subjects from West Virginia and Kentucky). An additional page is available just for Virginia and Washington, D.C., subjects.
For providing detailed captions and planning assignment photography, there are extensive reference files on North Carolina, including information on historic sites, national parks, etc. The files include detailed county-by-county maps.
