971134 A few miles east of the railroad town of Guernsey, Wyo., Fort Laramie National Historic Site shows visitors what life was like in a frontier military outpost and settlement. The site, operated by the National Park Service, is just off U.S. highway 26.

Note: Fort Laramie National Historic Site is in a different part of Wyoming from the town of Laramie, which is west of Cheyenne.
