Getting Serious About
Photography
A
Self-Paced Workshop for Expanding
Your Photographic Skills and Vision
a how-to book by
Ernest H. Robl
Please note...
- This book consists primarily of text. It
is not a picture book, though
it does include 22 black and white illustrations (from
color transparency originals). (Many
examples of the author's photography are available on the
author's Web site.)
- The book format is 8.5x11 inches (22x28
cm), with approximately 140 of these large-format pages. (Final revisions of the work were still in
progress when this Web page was being prepared.)
- Most pages contain two columns of text
with moderately small type.
- It is supplied as a shrink-wrapped
package of loose-leaf pages (printed
double-sided on heavy paper) with holes for widely
available standard three-hole ringbinders. (A binder is not
included in the base price.)
- This format was selected for the following
reasons:
- To provide good portability
- To keep production costs
reasonable
- So that users can
- add their own loose-leaf
pages with notes and additional
information
- add their own divider tabs
for various chapters, if desired
- Copies with holes for
European-style four-ring binders are available and
normally kept in stock. These copies actually have seven
holes for ringbinders so that they can be used in both
American and European binders.
- This book contains
- A detailed table of contents
- A preface explaining how the book
came about
- 20 chapters / sessions with
- practical and technical
information
- special sections on
specific photographic equipment
- exercises for applying
theory covered in the chapter
- Appendices providing
- a postscript
- a glossary
- a bibliography
- a user comment form
- A log form (which users can
duplicate), intended to record technical and
other details of photos made in trying out ideas
presented in the book.
