980418 Southbound Amtrak train 73, the "Piedmont," makes it scheduled stop at the restored station in Salisbury, N.C., May 15, 1998. The Raleigh-Charlotte train, subsidized by the state and operating with state-owned equipment, included the state-owned dome car, Mount Mitchell, in its consist on weekends for much of the summer and fall.
