001092 It's formal opening day at the intermodal facility on my model railroad layout. The railroad has hired a cheap band (only five instrumentalists, who are warming up) and set out benches for the guests, who have just started arriving. When all dignitaries are in place, the railroad truck pulling a container on a chassis will move away to reveal a Kalmar stacker placing a container on an all-purpose flatcar. A new Kalmar reach-stacker is on order but hasn't arrived yet. This small facility has been carved from an underutilized industrial park to provide better intermodal service to customers in that area.

I model Austrian (Österreichische Bundesbahnen, ÖBB, or Austrian Federal Railways) prototype. Many of the models ins this HO scale (1:87) scene, including the small two-axle class 2062 switcher, are by Kleinbahn, an Austrian manufacturer. The Tyrolian band figures and spectators are by Preiser. The container stacker is a Kibri kit.

The scene isn't quite finished yet, as shown by the upper right corner.
