010900 A westbound Burlington Northern Santa Fe (BNSF) trackage rights train emerges from tunnel 18 on Union Pacific's Moffat Route in central Colorado. Union Pacific had to grant BNSF trackage rights on this line as a condition of UP's acquisition of Southern Pacific.

On the Moffat Route, trains climb some 4,000 feet from Denver, which is already a mile above sea level, to the Moffat Tunnel, which runs under the continental divide. To manage this grade, the train has three locomotives in front and a remote-controlled locomotive at its end.
