
991345 Workmen make final adjustments in the heavy I-beam rails along which the Cape Hatteras Lighthouse is being moved inland to protect it from encroaching beach erosion. The huge structure, the largest brick structure ever to be moved, was first placed on a platform of even heavier I-beams, and that entire platform is being moved along the lower rails inches at a time. Work continued even amid a slight drizzle.
