810883 Chessie train passing Balcony Falls depot at Glasgow, Va. The old depot served as a base for maintenance forces in the area. To avoid confusion with a nearby junction with Norfolk Southern to which both railroads refer to as Glasgow, this small yard is called Balcony Falls, though within the town of Glasgow. The Chessie System became part of CSX Transportation, accounting for the C in the corporate name.

The engines are followed by an excess dimension load, consisting of a large pressure vessel.

This 1981 photo is included in the 2002 Tide-Mark Railroading calendar.
