The restoration of the railroad line between Saigon and Hanoi has been featured in magazines and on a variety of television programs recently. The current through train operates under the name "Unification Express." I traveled on a segment of this line between DaNang and Hue in early 1970, when the line operated with a combination new US-built diesel locomotives and other rolling stock dating back to the French colonial era.
