070517 Sixth Street grade crossing on the Charlotte, N.C., Lynx light rail system, which began revenue operations in November of 2007.

This crossing has gates on only one side, as 6th St. is a one-way street. However, such crossings pose concerns about pedestrian safety, as pedestrians cross the tracks in both directions.

Here a single-car train has just departed the 7th St. station, southbound on the South Corridor Blue line, the first light rail in the Carolinas.
