070527 A Charlotte, N.C., Lynx light rail train departs the Charlotte Transportation Center station heading south, with one of the city's many office towers forming a backdrop. This light rail station adjoins the city's main bus transit hub, enabling commuters to transfer between the two modes. To the left, new building construction is in progress adjoining the light rail line in this November 2007 photo, made during the light rail line's first week of operation.
