011632 Trains of the Salzburger Lokalbahn (Salzburg Local Railway or SLB) at Bürmoos, a junction point near the end of its line away from Salzburg, Austria. At left, a three-car train is ready to head back to Salzburg, while in the distance at right, a single-car train is ready to head up the branch to Trimmelkam.
Though its passenger service is operated with light rail equipment, the line itself is built to heavy-rail standards and also sees freight trains. Several of the towns have substantial station buildings. The photo was made in December, shortly before Christmas. The region around Salzburg, particularly the upper end of the SLB line, typically gets snow in December.
For a feature describing this line, see the March, 2005, issue of Railfan & Railroad magazine.
