The heritage trolley is operating on a former freight rail line that has been upgraded to contemporary light rail standards in anticipation of future light rail commuter service on this south corridor line. The heritage trolley operation will continue to operate when light rail service begins, sharing the same tracks. At that point, the line will be double-tracked.

Here a group from the Carolinas Association for Passenger Trains (CAPT) is viewing the recently completed Park Avenue stop in April of 2003.
