840351 The Elizabeth II is a replica of the ship that brought the first English-speaking colonists to North Carolina. Built in the early 1980s, the ship is fully capable of being sailed on the open ocean, but is now usually docked at Manteo, N.C., as a state historic site. This photo shows the ship in a bay near Manteo, shortly after being launched.
