The twin Linville Falls (upper and lower) are located only a short distance off the Blue Ridge Parkway in western North Carolina, on the Linville River and, logically enough, near the town of Linville.

From a public parking area near the parkway, a series of trails leads into the narrow river gorge.

Flow of water in the river and through the falls can vary quite dramatically even over a period of a few days, depending on recent rainfall in the area.
