This Web site was created with Miscrosoft® FrontPage®. Though all pages were created with the FrontPage editor, in a few cases I directly edited the HTML code to produce formatting not supported by the editor.
Some text pages which existed previously as Microsoft Word® documents were first converted to HTML documents in Word, then imported into FrontPage. This typically produced better results than importing the Word document directly into Front Page.

Prior to December of 1997, scanning of transparencies was provided by a graphic arts service bureau, Art Farm, of Apex, N.C. In December of 1997, I began doing my own scans with a Polaroid SprintScan scanner. The page of Vietnam (1969-1970) images added in December of 1997 consists entirely of my own scans.
Copyright notices were added to the master scans with Microsoft Image Composer. Thumbnail images for table of content pages were created from the master scans with Microsoft Photo Editor.
Some additional elements were created with Microsoft Paint.
I've purposely tried to keep the content simple and straight-forward, to focus on the picture and text content and to assure that pages load reasonably fast. Because they do not use any special formatting beyond frames and tables, these pages should work with most versions of most browsers. If you encounter problems, please send me e-mail, indicating the nature of the problem and what browser version you are using.
